about the artist

Life is sweet if you look for the miracle in the everyday. And I do.
We all carry a story inside. I just help people see it.

Photography grabbed a hold of me as a child, replacing my sketches and words as a way to document the beauty and truth of the world. As a journalist and photographer at small town weekly newspapers, photography once again made more sense to me than the written word. Images cut to the heart of the matter, to the heart of a community.

My approach combines my photojournalistic instincts and my artistic eye.
Raised on fairy tales, romps in a rural lakeshore community and my mother’s soap box politicking for the little guy, I fell in love with the human race.

I honed my artistry with continuing education classes at the Nova Scotia College of Art of Design in Halifax and at Humber College in Toronto. Years of helping bring stories to life in community theatre and film also fueled my already vivid imagination.

Currently, I am a member of the Bay Photography Club so I can discover the people and places of Georgian Bay . In the everyday, I’m a newlywed, a big sister to four little-big brothers, a first generation Canadian daughter to hard working Dutch immigrants, a horrible, but enthusiastic singer, a volunteer for anything that will help out people and a daydreamer.

Most importantly, I am a storyteller – always have been and always will be.
